My memories of the 5th Marine Regiment was before they mounted out to Vietnam at Camp Margarita near the Air Field at Camp Pendleton. General Krulak a known egotist and good man a alumni of the 5th Marines landed his generals plane to pay tribute. As the red carpet rolled out and the band played the generals march Krulak tripped on the red carpet head over heels. Got up with a generals dignity brushed himself off, straighten his military alignment, and wished the 5th well. Many of my colleagues served with the 5th at the battle of Hue City. One was in my ward mate at Bremerton Naval Hospital from Deer Lodge Montana. Semper Fi
