A lot of folks in Germany from her generation feel the way she does. When I was growing up there in the 60’s and early 70’s, there was a general consensus of shame from what occurred in WWII. However, most citizens were not Nazi’s and had no involvement in the Holocaust. But they were keenly aware of its impact on Germany in the years following the war.
