Thanks TSgt Joe C. for letting us know that on February 9, 1942 Congress pushed ahead standard time for the United States by one hour in each time zone, imposing daylight saving time–called at the time “war time.”
It is interesting that martial law included the establishment of Daylight saving time :-)
