Gene Sperling Admits: 'We Put Forth the Design of' Sequestration
The White House official acknowledged on Sunday that President Barack Obama was the one to put forward "the design" of the forced federal budget cuts known a...
SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL: This letter omits an important fact: the idea of the sequester originated from the White House.

Maj William W. 'Bill' Price, unfortunately, the GOP leadership went along with this destructive idea rather than stay and fight for their position. For the Dems to keep cuts to their social programs low while making the military cuts more than their proportional share was a win/win situation for the left - and the GOP leaders should have seen it.

Capt Seid Waddell - Agreed. One must conclude they were either outmaneuvered or they agreed with it. I hope it was the former.

Maj William W. 'Bill' Price, the suspicion that it was the latter is what fueled Trump's selection and subsequent election.
The GOP has been a gaggle of spineless politicians always wanting to surrender in the current fight so that they can fight the next fight better - but the next fight always gets the same surrender response and promise to fight later.
I am not sorry to see the establishment GOP destroyed; Trump can hardly do worse than they did no matter what he does.

Thanks for sharing SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL the "open letter from the National Military Family Association." I was saddened to see "the uncertainty of dwindling benefits" at the top. Life is full of uncertainly and sadly the military and families have been treated as lower priorities in the sequestration period.
I hope that President-elect Donald Trump's administration will manage funding more efficiently and that sound business practices will help improve the salary and benefits of military-service members and families, veterans and military-service retirees without increasing the deficit.
Thanks for Maj William W. 'Bill' Price for pointing out that the architect of the Sequestration was a member of the POTUS Obama administration.

LTC Stephen F. thanks for the well conceived astute response that hits home. I appreciate the BLUF approach candidly.

It does seem that one of the first areas the armed forces seek to cut when budgets tighten is family services but they also see the bang for a buck family support renders to the fighting men & women.
