If snopes said the sky is blue, I would go outside to look. That being said, it's pretty sad that the dems think this is the way to do business.

As stated by Snopes, the U.S. has had six republican presidents since Eisenhower left office in 1961: Richard Nixon, Gerald Ford, Ronald Reagan, George H. W. Bush, George W. Bush, and Donald Trump. Nixon and Trump have been the only Republican presidents since Eisenhower who have faced a serious threat of impeachment.
[] Impeachment efforts against Richard Nixon received bipartisan support. Is there any doubt on the justification for Nixon's imminent impeachment prior to his resignation? However it is interesting to note that it wasn't until his tax returns were released that the public really turned against Nixon. (Most have forgotten VP Agnew's forced resignation for his scandals involving political corruption, bribery, tax evasion, etc.)
[] As mentioned by Snopes, Ford didn't face impeachment so the meme claiming "EVERY" is clearly false. Notably Representative Gerald Ford stated: “The only honest answer is that an impeachable offense is whatever a majority of the House of Representatives considers [it] to be at a given moment in history; conviction results from whatever offense or offenses two-thirds of the other body considers to be sufficiently serious to require removal of the accused from office.” Although Ford's preemptive pardon of Nixon was very controversial, Ford privately justified the pardon by quoting a 1915 SCOTUS decision which stated that a pardon indicated a presumption of guilt and that acceptance of a pardon was tantamount to a confession of that guilt. The Rockefeller Commission and Church Committee also hinted at potential impeachment worthy conduct by LBJ (i.e. FBI black bag break-ins and CIA activity against the Goldwater campaign).
[] A single House Representative, Rep. Henry B. Gonzalez (D-TX), introduced articles of impeachment against Reagan (1987) and Bush 41 (1991 & 1992) that never made it out of committee. There were zero co-sponsors, so is that really "Democrats" (plural) or just a lone wolf independent actor? Nonetheless, I think Iran-Contra (to include Barry Seal, Manuel Noriega, Kerry Committee, etc) involved likely impeachment worthy transgressions and (former) convicted felon Oliver North should have gone to jail. https://nsarchive2.gwu.edu//NSAEBB/NSAEBB2/index.html

[] Clinton was rightly impeached for perjury during sworn testimony.
[] The articles of impeachment against Bush 43 included support from 24 Republicans to forward the resolution to the House Judiciary Committee (where it also died in committee). However, given the false justification for war in Iraq, mass domestic spying, no-bid contracts, obstruction & meddling, etc. - I think an impeachment inquiry would have been warranted.

[] Republicans introduced H Con Res 107 to impeach Obama. In addition to all the Republican voices to impeach Obama, even Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) -- who also wanted to impeach Bush 43 and VP Dick Cheney over Iraq (but was blocked by Democrat leadership) -- asked why Obama missile strikes in Libya weren’t impeachable offenses. In fact Obama faced innumerable Republican threats of impeachment for most of his term.

Maybe the problem isn't with trying to hold elected politicians accountable, but rather the failure of other elected politicians from holding their fellow politicians accountable so we have a system full of bad players and "whataboutism". Meanwhile, instead of paying attention or taking action, the general public concerns itself with entertainment and inconsequential non-issues that don't impact their lives so they too fail to adequately hold elected officials accountable or even take the time to cast an informed vote. For the few paying attention or wanting to take action, who can they trust to accurately educate them on what is actually happening? There is no easy solution and those with power and money like it that way.
