I agree. The union thugs in the NEA and AFT will now have to work for a living. I pulled my son from APG, MD public school after 2nd Grade because his teacher expected him to help other children in his class. I asked the teacher why was my son was told to help other children. Her response was that the principal had decried that the more advanced children should help the slower ones. I met with the principal. He was a pompous ass whose arrogance was only exceeded by his narcissism. He said "... Captain this is the latest education theory..." I looked at him and said "...So wen will my son receive compensation for being employed as a teachers aide?.." He looked at me a smirked - well that is not possible. I said - I know and I pulled him out that day and placed him a private school that afternoon. Was the tuition tough to afford - yes. Did my ex-wife and I have to sacrifice - yes. But the alternative was to subject my son to an inferior education at the hands of leftist union activists posing as teachers. My son subsequently attended a series of private schools and graduated as HS Valedictorian . I never regretted our decision to give our son access to a private school education. I wanted him challenged. I wanted him to learn to think for himself and not be a cog in a union run educational system where mediocrity is the norm and poor teachers can retain their positions regardless of their demonstrated incompetence. I hope DeVos cleans house and fires all those incompetent morons at the Department of Education starting with the imbeciles that developed common core.

First, education isn't a market that benefits on competition. It's not a pizza joint that gets better when they're are 5 or more competing for children. If a school, especially a charter school fails in the middle of the school year, then what is to happen to those children? Are they just to be left to their own devices?
