(Join to see) Many of these switches are older models and have already been pulled from military inventory, if the command is staying current with lifecycle and security replacements.
I am sure many are not and TELNET is a base IP function, so this is a problem.

Actually if you follow security best practices telnet should be disabled in favor of SSH. Telnet has been too easy to hack for almost a decade now.
