House lawmakers have called for Defense Department officials to study the adequacy and availability of child care services for veterans. This comes after leaders identified child care as a readiness issue for military families.

When I was a Grad student 91-93 utilizing VR through the VA, child care was definitely an issue! I went to great lengths (as a single Mom) to secure appropriate child care for my daughter. I took out $10,000 in Student Loans to provide before and after school care and child care during summer school. (I paid off my Student Loans in full) I even worked as a GTA for money needed to cover living expenses because the VA allotment wasn’t enough.
