When the idea of an European Union was instituted many had said it would fail because the nationalism of each nation was too strong. Today Nationalist movements still threaten the EU. So the idea of an EU army that serves the entire European community first has to overcome the divide of hatred.
In the end I do hope we see a unifed Europe that is unified politically, financially, and militarily.
