Don't let fat-shaming keep you from booking that flight

The FAA continues to assume passengers weigh 180 pounds on average. This was a conservative average in 1950, so it included a safety margin. This is no longer the case today, especially in America. I would support an effort requiring passengers greater than 300 pounds to purchase 2 seats, in an effort to regain some safety margin, and to help ensure all non-obese passengers get the whole seat space they paid for.
