I believe this to be a site dedicated to veterans helping veterans. With that said. I've gone through several phase of life stages over the past 45 years. As a kid, I was usually neck deep in some sort of trouble whether it be from my always absent mother to skirting legal trouble time and again. My family had concluded I would amount to nothing and grow to be a leech on the family and society as a whole like my mother. Something clicked in me at the age of 23 and I have been achieving one goal after another. These goals included being the first in our family to get a doctorate, first to get two masters, raising my daughter on my own (12 years now). My next phase of life goal is business ownership. I've spent the last 10 years working in the community mental health system giving back to the community and want to do the same thing but in a "hand up rather than a hand out" role. Specifically, I believe the best way to help the community as a whole is create purpose and instill responsibility. This just isn't done in community mental health. Some of the problems I've seen in the mental health field is the stigma associated with getting help. This is even more significantly evident in our veteran population. To overcome the stigma of getting help for mental health we need to bring the profession out of shadows and make it convenient and accessible. I also feel the help the community, creating job opportunity is paramount to the hand-up mindset. I could easily work for myself and bring in 100k a year which helps pay the politicians salary but doesn't help the community. Starting a business which projected nationwide growth over the next 10 years will certainly accomplish those goals. Investors want ownership which gives them decision making and control with a possible loss of vision and mission. Bank loans are impossible to obtain and grant programs are hard to find and qualify for. So I am reaching out to my veteran community to help support a veteran small business owner establish and grow through crowdfunding. My goal is to put mental health offices in shopping plazas and strip-malls with an affordable membership program. Join me by visiting the link below and donating. Then like and share both the message and the link on your pages and other social media.
