Fascinating man, Steven. Been giving blood since I was a late teen. I never heard of this man. How sad.

SCPO (Join to see) I hadn't heard of him either. The irony is thick in that they allowed him to run a program for getting much needed life saving blood to those who needed it, but they wouldn't let him donate. I just started giving blood. It was funny, they had the big red bus sitting outside the range I go to, I was picking up ammo, and decided why not? Not the usual thing someone does on a whim.

Just about EVERY time I eat peanut butter I think of a black man, and I think how our lives have been enriched by the incredible advances made by people who never enjoyed the "fruits of their labours because of their skin color. I LOVE reading about these people. Thanks a lot, PO3 Steven Sherrill, thank you.

SCPO (Join to see) - I agree. Skin color is the least interesting feature of any person who has done great things. It does become more impressive when the individual had to overcome the prejudices of the time, but pales compared to the amazing things they accomplished for all people.
