Hopefully this will be a breakthrough. My Mom is about 5 years into her diagnosis with Alzheimer's so I doubt it will help her. I had, of course, heard and read about the disease but living through it with someone is a different matter.

My Mom doesn't know any of her kids or grandkids or great grandkids any longer and hasn't for a few years now. She was unaware of who her husband (my Dad) was when he passed away late last year and would not attend the funeral service after 60 years of being married.

If we can find a way to keep people from going through this, that would be a major medical breakthrough.

Heard about this the other day. The cost of Alzheimers in caretaking, lost productivity and personal costs is absolutely staggering.
