On the eve of the superbowl it appears one of the colts players was killed by a drunk, illegal alien who then tried to flee the scene. From the article:
The driver of the pickup truck, identified as 37-year-old Alex Cabrera Gonsales of Indianapolis, tried to flee the scene on foot.
He was apprehended shortly after on the ramp to Holt Road by Mays, police said.
“It is believed Gonsales was intoxicated and was driving without a license,” Perrine said in a statement. “He was transported to the Marion County Jail, the result of the test for intoxication is pending.”…
An inmate records check shows Cabrera, booking number 1804804, is charged with one felony and four misdemeanors–and has a detainer filed by ICE.
If this is the true (it appears it is), this is another case of dead Americans that is 100% avoidable. A very sad day for the families of those killed.

Jackson was killed by a drunk driver. The immigration status of Cabrera-Gonsales had nothing to do with the offense, and is typically used, as it is here, to inflame the populace. Most reputable news sources stuck with the facts that were relevant.

Cpl Jeff N. - It is absolutely not legally relevant to the offense. And yes, I know how you like to come down on lawyers as the cause, right until it is someone that you know that the state is trying to imprison.
"If we had proper border protection and a more expeditious deportation process he would not have been here" is pure speculation on your part, and part of the reason that his immigrant status will not come up in court.
He needs to be tried and punished for drinking and driving, causing the deaths of two people--not for being an illegal alien who may or may not have committed a criminal immigration violation.

Wonder what his family thinks about this? I know the Mother killed in a similar circumstances here want him back here for trial. He repatriated himself. The point made that if ILLEGAL ALIENS were rooted out and deported would save lives is operable.
