General Matthew Ridgeway commanded the 18th ABC in WWII. He was a soldiers' general as he memorized thousands of soldiers names when he met them. His first jump was in combat. He mocked the Germans by peeing in the open as artillery rounds fell around him. He was exactly the type of general the 18th ABC needed.
