MSgt (Join to see) “”True Jointness Requires””; the ability to communicate personally or via whichever radio system happens to be in vogue at the moment. That radio system MUST have frequencies accessible by all assigned forces!

My two cents. This article is blown out of proportion. There is a COC, the decision to press forward or not does not rely on the AF or Amy Commanders, rather with the Chairman of Joint Chiefs, the Sec Def and the President.
The Generals/Admirals present there strategy, sometimes together, sometimes in opposition, in the end no Services budget is released with unidentified funding and the ability to work strategic platforms without consent.
Once there is consent, debate is over. I personally do not see issue with reviewing deep strike options. If a land based missile can be fired, penetrating enemy defenses without risking pilots and planes, why not. Usually when a service panics over the ideas of others is because they see their relevance being questioned. Anyway.

That’s a fair assessment but personally I believe duplicating or tripling some capabilities is not necessary. I think it’s best to keep each branch with the unique mission and capabilities they were built upon not one branch trying to do all.
