I can be cynical about this news article. Those few, who have been assigned to the MFO realize just how precarious the region is. Not to detract from those who preform those endless rotations to Iraq and Afghanistan, but, Egypt is/was suppose to be peaceful, non-violent, and yet... I wonder how soon Saint Catherine's Monastery be in need of armed guards to protect the writings and Heritage that has existed there since 550 AD.

i believe you'll find it has guards. the Sinai was most peaceful when Israel had control and a good working relationship with the Bedouin tribes.

I remember, I did a year with the MFO from '89/'90, used off the lot vehicles then. Was on one of the FB pages for the MFO and ever since it was attacked in '12 everything has shifted to up-armored. I just wonder when everything shifted to out right hatred for "Westerners".
