Pretty interesting viewpoint on the El Faro sinking by a seasoned Master Mariner. I've seen myself a lot of the points he makes -- STCW violations, crew rest violations, safety schedules ignored, etc.

The Coast GUard either needs to grow by a whole lot, or this particular mission needs to be separated from the service. There's know way the Coast Guard can continue to give all their missions the level of attention they need, with so few people.
