Those Democrats who have thrown their hat into the ring for the 2020 Presidential Race are trying to outdo each other with insane promises thinking that the rank and file of their party will support the one with the most. I know enough Democrats to think that they are mistaken. At least, I hope they are mistaken...

If she was to win the general, I wonder how all of the people that chose her will feel when they can no longer fill the tank of their fossil fuel powered vehicle and the electrical grids' brown/black outs roll through their neighborhoods. That woman poses an extreme clear and present danger.

Because the longer we continue to ignore the problem, the more drastic the solution needs to become and the less time we have to deal with it. Instead of asking ourselves why the proposed solutions keep becoming more drastic, perhaps we should ask ourselves why we keep ignoring the problem and kicking the can down the road or doing things to make the problem worse.

SPC Kevin Ford - If climate warming is really the problem you think it s why isn’t the EU etc doing more? Shouldn’t they at least match us? If the oceans are rising etc why did Al Gore and Barack Obama buy mansions by the sea? If this is really happening why buy a mansion at all? Those two hoses have 4 times the carbon foot print mine does. Because they don’t believe it is happening either. I do get tired of being lectured by energy wasting blow hards flying around in their private planes etc.

LTC David Brown It is misleading to state we're doing more than the EU. In gross metric ton reduction sure we have done more because we were using so much more per-capita than the EU. But as a percentage decrease EU countries have done more.

SPC Kevin Ford - Did you read the article you posted? Good grief. We are not the number one producer per capita, we rank 8th. We have reduced our carbon emissions while China and india’s Increased. The fellow who wrote the article is agreeing that the US has reduced our emissions. The cause of the reduction is natural gas. You want us going back to burning wood in fire places? Bette Midler blasts Trump on the climate while she buys a 7,000 foot pad in New York. Great example of environmental awareness!

LTC David Brown - I did read it and as the article states:

"While the U.S. had the highest overall decline in carbon dioxide emissions, we didn't have the largest percentage decline. Many European countries experienced declines of 20% to over 30%. At the same time, China's carbon dioxide emissions increased by 50%, and India's increased by 88%."

So your complaints about the EU are a bit misplaced. But yes, Natural Gas was a great transition technology but it is time for that transition to end. If we continue to build new natural gas plants were going to be stuck with them for 30 years because we son't give up on that sunk cost and we can't be.

The silly thing is we all will have to go in this direction eventually. If we act now we can really be a leader in this market and make US continue to be an economic powerhouse by leading in these new technologies. But because we don't listen to science and are making political decisions instead of pragmatic ones, we're going to give this position, and all the benefits that will come with it, to another country (ironically enough, likely China)
