One of my Favorite Stories, My most definite illegal alien family history story. My Great Grandfather William Henry Wesling came thru there. Nothing Unusual except it lists him as Willie (My Grandson's short form Name) but it lists him as a Female. Willie is not uncommon nickname for a German Female. Best I can tell this was when Germans were flooding here most trying to get to Missouri (Where GrGrandpa Henry ended up) and they put up some quotas to stop the flood but there was a demand for Seamstresses at the Sweat Shops in NY. My GrGrandpa Henry's Older Brother's that had settled here before him Put a Dress on a 12 yr old Male and passed him off as a Female Seamstress.

SGT John " Mac " McConnell - I'm still trying to figure just how, Bribed or Drunk those officials there had to be to accept Henry as a Female. Guy had huge knarly hands definitely not the hands of a Seamstress.
