Sir I think he was attempting to do a comparison of the two, and failed miserably at it. Reading into it, it seems like he was talking down to them, but I'm wondering was it bad word choice, ignorance of the military as a whole (big problem in congress on both sides), or sheer ignorance completely. It could be all three, but there are will be those who would take it at face value and party affiliation and run with it. It would've been nice if there was more background information that opened up how this got started.

You are right. I think it is ignorance of the military and also arrogance of being in Congress. He has been in Congress for over 20 years so it is astounding to me that he would say something like this. I would like to see video of the testimony. Still it makes me upset to see this attitudes towards our enlisted service members.

COL Jon Thompson - Sir this is proof why we as a country need term limits, rules on lobbying after being in congress, and a new approach on how we elect officials.
