Considered doing that many times in my early days in law enforcement. But, I was too Midwestern!!! Had a standing job offer with Orange County Sheriff's Office. It sure sounded sweet at the time.

Orange County is recruiting very heavily currently. They are down double digit positions.

Sheriff Mel Coleman hired 900 deputies in the years he was in charge. His successor hired 500. They both knew the need for a massive presence in that hugely popular tourist destination.

SCPO (Join to see) - Still not addressing the issue. What, if any, Military Police Training assisted you getting appointed a Police Officer? Police Certification is a State Function. It requires training to State Standards. If it accrued some credit toward State Certification, it would be of value. Being a veteran is worth a lot but not specifically MP training. I did hire a dog handler based on that training

Police certification depends on the state. I have taught in city, county, state, and regional academies, all nationally accredited. I know of many agencies across the same spectrum that value the MP or CID or OSI or NCIS or CGIS training. The Feds value it the most. Nothing I was trained in or for in the Navy did me any good when I sought civilian law enforcement employment.

This does nothing for MPs, it is for recruiting Officers from outside Florida. When I relocated to California I had to submit my certification transcripts to California POST (Police Officer Standards and Training. They sent me a letter telling me what courses I had to complete within a year. I recall in the 1970s the Ontario Provincial Police was waivering Canadian Citizenship to get experienced Officers. I don't know of anywhere that MP training counts for anything more than any other MOS

SSG Edward Tilton - We go by the new training standards they have in the Mil records system. Plus it is not for everyone. Just those that have a year in the duty position full-time, and have training records to prove it. This is not for hiring, this is for being able to be exempted from the basic law enforcement academy training, and being able to take the state exam. They still have to pass the testing and such. That is all. But save them about 6 months worth of training.

Had an EOT class qualifying in Firearms today. Had 1 Army MP and 1 AF Security Forces vets in the class. Both shot very well and both qualified no problem!
