I remember this and worse on my first ship, a Destroyer Escort. Flat-bottomed, single-screw and top heavy made for some rough rides. Particularly memorable were back-to-back typhoons in the North Pacific while shadowing some Soviet vessels. The tossing was so bad that I spent every night on the compartment floor with my arms around a wastepaper basket --- I didn't even want to get sick in my rack.

No women on ships when I served. Additionally, the main deck of the Titanic was considerably higher than that of a Destroyer Escort.

Been through the rough seas, but the hymn will knock me to my knees. Thanks Jack.
