Oh, please...Napoleon Bonaparte.talked incessantly about a U.S. of Europe two centuries ago...I just wish to God the Brita would finally grow up, accept reality, throw those royalist pretenders of theirs out on the street bag and baggage, then all the castles into the museum's they already are, and realize the sun set on the British Empire three quarters of a century ago after WW2, same thing with their stupid Commonwealth, total.ancient history...they're just an island state of Europe, with the Chunnel to France...trying to pretend they're a major independent country in the early 21st century is just patently absurd nonsense, to my way of thinking...that all ended decades ago, to think otherwise is just revisionist, anachronistic nonsense....

What exactly are you talking about? Britain is independent. Why do you feel they aren't? The UK/EU relationship is no more "needy" than the USA with its NAFTA. Why is Britain stamping her feet? Because Britain buys MORE in Europe than Europe buys. Majority of Italian wine is bought by Brits, majority of German cars are bought by Brits, etc. The EU will suffer more from having "no Britain" than Britain will.

I follow...sorry if I'd been unclear...you make good points, certainly, I'll of course grant that, by all means...it's just that, economics aside, I'd been most interested in how the whole EU basically was, essentially, as close as Europe has ever gotten to the physical manifestation of that original Napoleonic dream...for centuries, the UK had a dominance in world history, as manifested by, first, it's Empire, then, second, its whole Commonwealth thing...while I completely grant what you say, truly, I do, I just wish the whole country would just finally let the whole EU thing stand as it is, and not try to get out of it...I just honestly think, and, obviously, this is purely my own thought, that, a united Europe, even as far as the EU goes, would, to my mind, at least, just help make the world far more stable geopolitically...honestly, that was my sole point...though, as I'd said, what you'd pointed out is certainly true, by all means....

The UK gives the EU more business than it gets from any other source. Pissed America off? Ooops. There goes one of their major partners. That leaves just the UK. Piss them off too and they just may have to buy their own stuff. Which they don't...
The EU was gung ho about making a deal with the UK. They aren't now. Hmmmm... Betting man says Trump may have made an under the radar bid to replace UK business with American business. That sounds really 1930-ish which I don't believe Trump is smart enough to do, but hey...one minute EU wants to deal/US and UK are buddies, next day EU doesn't want to deal/UK and UK are pissing at each other.
