Europe vs. America: Comparing the terrorism threat | Brookings Institution

ISIS is now the biggest boogeyman threatening our nation- or so goes that saying. Are we really at that high of a threat level where we lose focus on the possible bigger threat of Domestic Terrorist Orgs and Hate Groups who promulgate their ideology thru acts of terror and violence?

Granted we have those in our country who support ISIS and other International Terrorist Orgs and on occasion attempt to carry out something, but since 9/11 what large scale and devastating attacks have they been able to carry out on our home soil? Yes, we have had many lone wolves carry out attacks and succeed, but nothing large scale since the big one .

The narrative is that we are being attacked or are about to be attacked by outside groups, while no one is paying attention to the fact that most of the incidents that we have had since 9/11 have been homegrown American Citizens not people coming in an performing such acts as the 9/11 attacks. In some cases it has not even been proven they had any connection with outside terrorists groups other than voicing their support.

Maybe we as American Citizens should start paying a little more attention to these details and maybe refocus some more of our attention to the threat within our borders that is and has been ever so prevalent for decades.
