A waste of money is a waste of money. It doesn't matter what you compare it to or say it isn't as bad as what someone else did. Spending millions of dollars for a parade is a waste of government funds.

I think that's a dangerous (and hypocritical) road for any of us to go down. When F-18's fly over a football game it costs a lot of money that could be spent on the homeless. When I buy a new smoker for the patio it costs money that could be spent on the homeless. When we spend $30,000 on a used truck it costs money that could be spent on the homeless. The point is, we could ALL spend less on ourselves and more on the homeless or some other group of humans that need help. So pointing a finger at the president isn't really fair since as Americans I'm guessing we could all do without some of our luxuries.

The bigger issue is why we are having this. It’s not about celebrating a victory which is typically when we have had parades, this is just to bolster Trump’s ego. $10 -30 million on a vanity project is just insane.

You make good points--especially about the F-18s. But we do need F-18s and actually use them for years, so they aren't a sunk cost. I don't believe that's why people are pointing a finger at the President, but another way to say a waste of valuable and limited resources for ego that could better be spent for good purposes and honoring the military.

Susan Foster I'm sure there are better ways to spend the money. I just thought it was a petty jab to say the money could be used to feed the homeless as if to draw the conclusion that the president doesn't care about them. America, and Americans, could feed every person on the planet if we wanted to. All of spend money on things we "need" that could be put to better use.

SN Keagan Miller My post wasn't meant to support this. I really haven't thought much about it. But saying the money could be used to feed the homeless is dumb. Our gov't wastes money all the time, as do each of us but now suddenly the author is going feign compassion for the homeless? I don't buy it.
