As a Artillery Officer, I take great lengths in observing safety of all firearms and big caliber howitzers. And I have been involved in planning many live-fire exercises, calculating safety diagrams for range control for cannon & rocket artillery units. But I must say, the latest trend of doing gender "reveals" for babies is getting ridiculous. In Michigan, a couple did a "reveal" party with an actual cannon, that exploded & sent shrapnel flying 10-15 feet and injuring a man, Evan Thomas Silva who was struck in the chest. He was transported to the hospital where he later died, tragically. People, please do not handle gunpowder & cannons especially in this gender reveal trend. Now someone has been killed over a social media- fratricide fail.

California says it all, using gun powder in a cast signal cannon says it all. I could say many other things but that would be mean.

The article actually says the cannon exploded in Michigan. But other stupid incidents did happen in CA.

I don't get why these are still a thing. The woman who invented gender reveals has repeatedly told people to stop doing them. And that they're stupid. And the first time she did one it was just a cake or something. So it's unclear how they got to this point - oh wait it's because Americans are ultimately dumb in some areas.
