I ended up getting some time alone and I was able to purge a lot of the emotions and thoughts that were stressing me out. It allowed me to detach and reorient myself to the idea that I’m probably actually in the safest environment that I’ve ever been in in my life. I joined as an 09S. I was dismissed for injuries and politics, I stood up for one of my peers to the 1SGT of my holdover company because I wanted to see her heal and she did. She has a career now, it just threw a wrench in everything for me. I’ve been having difficulties adjusting to the idea of barracks life and the scenarios I have encountered make me feel like I’ve signed my life away to another corporation without integrity, only there’s no getting away from it because I live here too. I had heard the culture was changing to something more like the corporate world and I wanted to do everything in my power to stop that by being an officer. I’ve been feeling utterly powerless because I have no authority here. I’m not believed when I tell the truth and people don’t care that I’m struggling for the most part.

The hardest thing is that I wanted to be the person I never had. I’ve been on my own since I was a teenager. Then, when I was able to pause today and take time for myself, I remembered a quote, “No one saves us but ourselves. No one can and no one may. We ourselves must walk the path.”

I can still do this. It is a common sociological statement that simply being around an environment and observing it causes change within it. I am suffering. I care about that suffering. I will be here.PO3 (Join to see)

It is all about expectations and what you are willing to do. I did leave corporate and go to the school system with its own challenges but I made the program I had better by pushing and reinforcing and working hard (Basically I treated the staff like educated, unmotivated airmen and that worked)
"So you have two choices, be apathetic to the reality that you are choosing to stay in and be miserable in the corporate monkey suit, selling out to shitty people and hating your life, OR you can take control, cut ties with shitty people, own what you want and go out and make the changes in your life you need to make so you can be associated wit the right people, doing something you actually want to do."
