In the years after the 11 September terror attacks, national security strategy in the US came to be dominated by an almost singular focus on Islamist extremism. Efforts to counter the threat of jihadist violence created a cottage industry of experts and researchers whose attention was similarly focused in one direction.
But throughout those same years, far right terror killed more Americans than any other ideology and yet there was no great shift in resources and attention to match – until now.
A rise in domestic extremism under Donald Trump, which culminated with the attack on the US Capitol on 6 January, is finally bringing about that shift. Many researchers and experts who for years have chased Isis and al-Qaeda across the globe are now turning their attention closer to home.

The Libyan people loved Gadhafi
Obama said his biggest mistake was bombing Libya.
The Libyan government became the first in the world to collect evidence on Osama bin Laden's activities and even supply it to Interpol. In early 1998, some five months before al Qaeda's bombing of US embassies in Africa, Qadhafi had formally requested an Interpol arrest warrant for Bin Laden. According to a former adviser to French President Jacques Chirac and a French investigative journalist, both the CIA and MI6 had then actively tried to stop the Interpol warrant from being issued and had sought to “downplay the threat” posed by Bin Laden.
The Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs at the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University – has issued a report which undermines the established narrative of the war in Libya, laying bare the cold, hard reality of what Libya was at the outset of the war, what really happened in the early days, and what Libya has become today. Of course, responsibility for the tragic and lasting effects of that war should be laid at the feet of Obama, Cameron, Sarkozy, and the other participants, in addition to those media outlets and NGOs that deliberately spread lies about the reality on the ground in Libya. All must be held accountable.
Contrary to Western media reports, Qadhafi did not initiate Libya’s violence by targeting peaceful protesters. The United Nations and Amnesty International have documented that in all four Libyan cities initially consumed by civil conflict in mid-February 2011—Benghazi, Al Bayda, Tripoli, and Misurata—violence was actually initiated by the protesters. The government responded to the rebels militarily but never intentionally targeted civilians or resorted to “indiscriminate” force, as Western media broadcast. Early press accounts exaggerated the death toll by a factor of ten, citing “more than 2,000 deaths” in Benghazi during the initial days of the uprising, whereas Human Rights Watch (HRW) later documented only 233 deaths across all of Libya in that period.
However, the hitherto suppressed truth is that it was the violent “protesters” (who should rightly be referred to as terrorists within the protests) who actually initiated the violence, using protesters as human shields.
Secondly, the notion that Gadhafi’s forces intentionally targeted civilians has been thoroughly debunked. Quite the contrary, the evidence now shows that Gaddafi went to great lengths to make sure that no civilians were harmed in the counter-terrorism operation as can be evidenced by the fact that “Qadhafi avoided targeting civilians…HRW reports that of the 949 people wounded [in Misrata] in the rebellion’s initial seven weeks, only 30 were women or children, meaning that Qadhafi’s forces focused narrowly on combatants.” Rather than ordering the wanton killing of civilians, Gaddafi attempted to maintain discipline among his forces such that they could stamp out insurgency with as little collateral damage as possible.
Third is the simple fact that all death tolls reported by the media leading up to the war were not only inaccurate, but wildly exaggerated beyond the parameters of “margin of error.” In fact, by overestimating the death toll by a factor of ten,
NATO forces were clearly engaged in an air war to destroy the military and political institutions of the Gaddafi government, rather than simply protecting civilians and providing support to rebels. Indeed, the NATO forces became the primary driver of the campaign against Gaddafi, allowing the rebels to take territory and, I might add, carry out their massacres of civilians.
Human rights Watch noted /specifically the forced displacement of the Tawergha ethnic group.
Naturally, these revelations came much too late to save the many innocent black Libyans, particularly in the Fezzan province, who were slaughtered by the rebels backed by US-NATO.
When NATO intervened in mid-March 2011, Qadhafi already had regained control of most of Libya, while the rebels were retreating rapidly toward Egypt. Thus, the conflict was about to end, barely six weeks after it started, at a toll of about 1,000 dead, including soldiers, rebels, and civilians caught in the crossfire. By intervening, NATO enabled the rebels to resume their attack, which prolonged the war for another seven months and caused at least 7,000 more deaths.
Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International should face serious investigations into criminal negligence, or at least gross misconduct, in terms of their dissemination of lies – lies which were used as the prime justification for the war in terms of how it was sold to the people. Is it a crime to inflate by 1000% casualty figures, the end result of which is a justification for war? If not, it should be, as without such propaganda, the war could never have been sold to the public.

LaBelle disco. As a result two US servicemen and a Turkish woman were killed in the blast and some 200 people injured.
The US blamed this alleged terrorist attack on Libya and used it as an excuse for President Reagan's air attack on Libya. On April 14, 1986, 160 US aircraft dropped over sixty tons of bombs on Libya, which killed at least 60 people, including many children due to the bombing of Tripoli and Benghazi.
They destroyed the home of Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi and Gaddafi himself, the main target of the air strike that allegedly killed Gaddafi’s daughter. Targeting the civilian leader of a nation is a war crime.
Sixty US officers at the U.S. Army's School for Advanced Military Studies made a serious charge against the Israelis in their 68-page paper. Intelligence insiders believed that Israel's Mossad had concocted the phony "evidence" to "prove" Libyan responsibility. West Berlin police director Manfred Ganschow, who took charge of the investigation, cleared the Libyans, saying, "This is a highly political case. Some of the evidence cited in Washington may not be evidence at all, merely assumptions supplied for political reasons." US intelligence interests actively built a selective politically-motivated case against suspects without objective material proof; while ignoring and protecting a group of suspects with documented connections to western secret services.

According to former Mossad intelligence officer Victor John Ostrovsky in his two books; By Way of Deception and ‘The Other Side of Deception, Mossad used of fake radio transmissions/deception, that duped the US into bombing Libya. Ostrovsky was raised in Israel, but was born in Canada. He achieved the rank of lieutenant commander in the Israeli military and he was a Mossad case officer from 1984 to 1986. He says he participated in the planning of the deception operation describe below as liaison with the Israeli navy.
To summarize, Ostrovsky writes that the Israelis broadcast false radio transmission pointing the finger for the La Belle terrorist bombing at Libya, when in fact the Israeli Mossad officers were the terrorists. This is called a “false flag” operation.
The Israelis had developed a radio re-transmission that relayed a broadcast received via Israel on radio frequency and then re-broadcast this same message on another radio frequency. US military intelligence/NSA and other nations can direction finding from where a radio transmission is broadcast and thereby determine from where it was broadcasts. A disinformation unit in the Mossad, called LAP, than sent a radio signal from Tripoli, Libyan and the US was lead to believe this intercepted coded radio transmissions, really came from Libya.
This special radio re-transmission device was called Trojan and it was secretly put into Tripoli by Israeli naval commandos.
The listeners would have no doubt they had intercepted a genuine communication, hence the name Trojan.
On the night of February 17-18, two Israeli missile boats, the SAAR 4-class Moledet and the Geula, a Hohit-class missile boat, conducted what seemed like a routine patrol of the Mediterranean, heading for the Sicilian channel and passing just outside the territorial waters of Libya. Just north of Tripoli, the warships, which were visible to radar both in Tripoli and on the Italian island of Lampedusa, just long enough to allow a team of twelve naval commandos to disembark on four wet submarines and two low-profiled speedboats.
Two miles off the Libyan coast in sight of Tripoli, eight commandos slipped quietly into the ashore carrying the Trojan cylinder six feet long and seven inches in diameter. It took two men to carry it. A gray van was parked on the side of the road about one hundred feet from the water, on the coastal highway leading from Sabratah to Tripoli and on to Benghazi. There was hardly any traffic at that time of night. The driver of the van seemed to be repairing a flat tire. He stopped working as the team approached and opened the back doors of the van. He was a Mossad Special forces combatant. At the same time, a squadron of Israeli fighters was refueling south of Crete, ready to assist. They were capable of keeping any ground forces away from the commandos, allowing them a not-so clean getaway if the commandos were detected by the Libyans.
The Mossad combatant take the cylinder to the top floor of the five-story building. The cylinder was wrapped in a carpet. In the apartment, the top section of the cylinder was opened and a small dish-like antenna was unfolded and placed in front of the window facing north. The unit was activated, and the Trojan horse was in place. The Mossad combatant had rented the apartment for six months and had paid the rent in advance. The Trojan radio re-transmitter would self-destruct, taking with it most of the upper part of the building.
By the end of March, the Americans were already intercepting messages broadcast by the Trojan, which was only activated during heavy communication traffic hours. Using the Trojan, the Mossad tried to make it appear that a long series of terrorist orders were being transmitted to various Libyan embassies around the world. As the Mossad had hoped, the transmissions were deciphered by the Americans and construed as ample proof that the Libyans were active sponsors of terrorism. What's more, Mossad intelligence reports to the CIA confirmed it.
The French and the Spanish, though, were not buying into the new stream of information. To them, it seemed suspicious that suddenly, out of the blue, the Libyans, who'd been extremely careful in the past, would start advertising their future actions. They argued further that, had there truly been after-the-fact Libyan communications regarding the attack, then the terrorist attack on the La Belle discotheque in West Berlin on April 5 could have been prevented, since surely there would have been communications before, enabling NSA to prevent the La Belle bombing.. Since the attack wasn't prevented, they reasoned that it must not be the Libyans who did it.
As a result of the La Belle bombing, it derailed a deal for the release of the American hostages in Lebanon, thus preserving the Hizballah as the number one enemy in the eyes of the West. Second, it sent a message to the entire Arab world, telling them exactly where the United States stood regarding the Arab-Israeli conflict. The French refused to allow the American bombers to fly over their territory on their way to attack Libya. A bomb hit the French embassy in Tripoli during the raid, and it was reported by the US as being a stray bomb from a US jet.

In refusing to convict Donald Trump for his crimes against democracy, the Republican Party has announced that Republican presidents are above the law and can act with impunity, as kings or dictators do — and that this is now true for Republican officials on the federal, local and state level as well.
Recent public opinion polling and other research shows that Trump Republicans believe that political violence is a reasonable tool for them to advance their goals.
The exact share of the GOP coalition responsive to extremist White nationalist beliefs or the use of violence to advance political goals is impossible to measure precisely. But polling and other research suggests that the best way to think about it may be through concentric circles radiating out from hard-core believers willing to commit violence themselves to a much broader range of GOP voters who might not become violent personally but express sympathy or understanding for those who do.
The inner circle are the extremists actively participating in potentially violent White nationalist extremism.
But polling has found a larger group of Republicans expressing sympathy for the attack on the Capitol -- and a much larger group than that expressing sympathy more generally for the belief that the threats to American society as they define it have grown so great that force or violence is justified to respond to them.
Contrary to what many of the hope-peddlers and professional centrists in the news media and elsewhere would like to believe, Trumpism and other forms of American fascism were not exiled by Joe Biden's election victory.
The Age of Trump will also linger on through what counterterrorism experts warn may be years if not decades of violent right-wing insurgency and terror directed against liberals and progressives, nonwhite people, Muslims, Jews and other groups targeted as the enemy Other.
Republican consultant Michael Madrid said, "They have fed the monster for so long that even when it turns on them, when the barbarians are literally at the gate ... when they were the targets and they were prey, they still will not turn on it. That's how dangerous is the societal threat that we are facing."
The right-wing evangelicals are among the most loyal and fanatical members of the American right and the Trump movement. As a group, these Christian fascists are committed to overturning secular democracy and making real their "end times" eschatological and apocalyptic fantasies.
The Republican Party and the broader right have embraced gangster capitalism where the poor and other marginalized groups are surplus people who should be left to die if they cannot be "self-sufficient" and "productive." The American people have had four years of real-world experience and education from the cruel tutelage provided by Donald Trump and his movement.
"A republic, madam, if you can keep it." More than 200 years later, the American people are being tested again. Will they be up to the task?

Do the terror attacks include BLM and Antifa? Does anyone understand that a lot of people saw the possibility of violence and asked for more security, including national guard troops? Trump asked for more national guard among other people. Another BS article. We had months of terrorist and extremist attack in American cities killing or resulting in the death of scores of people and multi millions of dollars in damage and those were”mostly peaceful” protests. My bull sh-t meter is going off like a nine alarm fire alarm.

Black Lives Matter protest were wrong. Our criminal justice system is not totally racist. I do not agree that the few African Americans killed by mistake by the police are evidence that our police forces have been militarized or that we need social workers to be responding to domestic violence or a crazy person raising hell or whatever. Those kind of 911 calls are very dangerous. I disagree with my fellow Democrats who demand we cut the funding for our cops. I do have an idea on how better to deal with riots like happened with the BLM protests. We need the cops to deploy colored smoke and with or without tear gas. Secondly, we need to educate Americans that when the cops do deploy colored smoke that means looting, property destruction, and/or violence is occurring where the smoke has been deployed. And the protest must move one or two city blocks away from the smoky area or they will be charged with rioting and if and when photographed by the police, the police will investigation and arrest those people who did not leave immediately the area of the "riot."
