I remember when my kids and their friends found a big bomb in the middle of the softball field after a heavy rain, we lived on top of an old WWII Ammo Dump.

Doesn't necessarily have to be from being on an old military base. In Florida we occasionally have ordinance wash up on beaches from WW II and later. Any place close to former or active military ranges can have the same thing happen.

Used to Happen in Adak while I was there all the time. Storm would come thru and all kinds of WWII Crap would be up on the beach Pretty Much True for Sinclair Inlet in Washington too.
