Although kente cloth does have ties to slavery, it is more widely recognized as a modern symbol of pride in African American culture and pride in cultural ties to West Africa. And some the same thing about the Confederate flag.

With all due respect to the author and the OP, this was blatantly disrespectful, a stunt, cultural appropriation, and an unforced error. It was hot garbage, and EVERYONE I know that is African-American (my wife's whole family, her, and several of my Soldiers and neighbors) were FURIOUS over this. And they are by no means conservative.
Whatever genius came up with this plan needs to be run out of Washington on a rail.
