I'm always surprised when I hear things like this. For example, while writing my series of novels, a Gurkha plays an important role in my story and I researched them extensively. Gurkhas served the British Army with great distinction in many wars and yet, they couldn't gain citizenship. Here too, I had always thought that any one who fought for America had some special preference to gain citizenship. However, I hear many tales of Hispanics being deported after serving honorably in the US Marines. Does anyone have any knowledge about all this?

I am sure racism and the planned 1946 independence played a factor. It's sad that as veterans they were turned away and it appears Canada got many of them after WW2.

Thanks for sharing the bittersweet news that Filipino fighters who served under the American flag during World War II have waited for over sixty years to be reunited with the children they left behind after the veterans were allowed to immigrate without their families - that must have been a horrible pill to swallow SFC Joe S. I am thankful that the families are being reunited I would be interested in your thoughts about this news SSgt (Join to see)

LTC Stephen F. thanks once again and always. I like to hear stories of great humanity being served right by our nation. This was the right way forward in my humble opinion.
