I like RP, and use FB for local news. Newsfeeds for info. It got so ugly during 2016 that I wiped around 300 "friends" on FB. Now have 40 odd, family and mostly true "friends". Besides unsolicited political comments, FB became "look at me". My new cabin at the lake, our new car, my nephew's first baby tooth under the pillow. Not informative or entertaining. The fact checking doesn't bother me. It's almost a community service, but unless their Terms of Service forbid it per unprotected free speech, still a form of censorship. We didn't have these issues before unsocial media. It was all resolved at the water cooler or over a beer.

My wife and I left FB 5-ish years ago. Twitter is also dropped for me. I never used them much and all either brought was heart burn and disappointment. Staying connected with family is not a reason to be on FB. You can create your own Discord group (which includes group voice channels), use Zoom and coordinate via a calendar, texting works, Marco Polo is kinda cool but we don't use it much.

The fact is, whatever you did BSM (before social media) you can now do in the electronic world without these overly large, monopolistic platforms.
