What does Sean Connery want, to give the sub bases to Spectre or make it a home port of call for the USSR LOL?

PO1 William "Chip" Nagel - Scotland will be part of NATO. DeGaul was a bonehead when France left but later they got their head out of their fifth point of contact and they rejoined. I think it makes sense to be like Turkey and others who are not part of the EU, but part of NATO, to keep the mutual Defense against Russia as the new Spectre. Scotland would be a great place to keep A-10s by the Baltics.

For all their hoo-ha and bluster, the Scots have already been told that they do not "get" anything except their regiments. So were Scotland to break away from the UK and become "just" Scotland, it would have no Air Force, no Navy and only a few thousand men of the Black Watch and Highlander regiments. Thats it. The smart move, would be to break away and continue to lease the bases to England. But of course, that depends on England actually wanting to do that. Gossport is the British submarine "home" so more than likely, her ships would go to Dartmouth who has a handful of ships. All subs would then go to Gossport.
So what do you do with an empty nuclear base? The Scots apparently have short memories. They forgot the "fun" they had turning Holy Loch back into useful property when the USN closed the base in the 1990's. Scotland was also given a "tour" of their "rights" regarding North Sea oil which they somehow thought was "theirs." The kind British, gave them a nice oil rig tour, replete with English flags. This is one of the reasons why the overwhelming majority of Scots voted to remain in the UK.
