You once stated you were against open borders. What would you suggest our enforcement agencies do with the overwhelming numbers crossing our borders. According to this report, there was nearly a million with deportation orders.

MCPO Roger Collins - Actually, there's a significant difference in the show up rate for asylum seekers and those detained for deportation without an asylum request. For the last year with data, only 11% of asylum seekers did not show up for their hearing. Of those represented by counsel, 97-98% show up.

Capt Gregory Prickett - Wall work in a in IS, and Mines work in SK. Lots of options.ions. options. If we do not have room in the processing center....the law should state they must wait for a vacancy.

SSgt GG-15 RET Jim Lint - well, both United States and international law disagrees with your position, and the default position is that they get to be released until their hearing.

SSgt GG-15 RET Jim Lint - tell me how that will work for the public the first time a U.S. emplaced minefield kills a family fleeing oppression.

MSgt (Join to see) - 1. I was discussing those seeking amnesty. They are not "illegals."
2. I agree about the "dreamers." Now if we could get the White House and the GOP controlled Senate to go along,,, fat chance.
3. We better allow those whose only skill is farm work, or your price of groceries will skyrocket.

I am OK with grocery prices increasing. Labor cost increases generally drive automation increases and I am all for that. As seen in the fast food industry and the “fight for $15”.

As far as the GOP and compromise... the democrats have to be willing to give something to get something. They are NOT willing to do that.

The GOP would go along for the dreamers if the democrats would agree to a compromise. Border wall funding, end chain migration, end of birthright citizenship for people who’s parents happen to be in the US illegally or here on tourist or student visa. I would have birthright citizenship for babies who have at least one parent a citizen, or at least one parent who is a green card holder. Green card holders are on a legal path to citizenship so their children should be given citizenship.

So basically the situation is similar to what we have here. You and I have different ideas but even though I am willing to compromise on some things (dreamers) you are not (wall). At this point the discussion goes nowhere because each side is not willing to change opinions. Each side believe they are coming from a position of morality and what is good for the country. There is not a possibility of me changing your mind any more than there is a possibility of you changing my mind. This is where the less civilised among us transform into name calling trolls. Sad but true. It seems that most people now can’t just agree to disagree. We’ve always had differing views in this country with democrat vs republican. It seems to be more recently where we’ve taken to insulting others and making them seem like less than human online. That is a real shame. The funny thing is I am a registered independent. I have been at one time in my life a registered democrat, republican and libertarian. I have views on different things that fit both sides. However, lately it has been the democrats that have been pushing me more and more into the republican camp because of the “unless you support our entire agenda” you are evil rhetoric. I am against identity politics in any form either from the left or right side. About 10 years ago when the tea party was all the rage it was the right pushing the centrists away.

MSgt (Join to see) - OK, I agree about the name calling. Childish. I wish Trump would stop.
Your link to Trump supporting dreamers was back in January of 2018. Shortly after that, he reversed himself. His base did not like him supporting the bill.
I oppose the wall for one simple reasons: it is a waste of money. It will not measurably reduce the illegal immigrant problem.

MSgt (Join to see) - people seeking asylum are complying with our law. As a side note, if you don't want them entering illegally and then requesting asylum, are you going to contact the White House and other officials to insist that the government complies with the law, instead of turning people away at ports of entry?
