A good book that supports this is Failing Forward: Turning Mistakes into Stepping Stones for Success by John C. Maxwell.

I don't know. Sometimes no matter how hard one tries it becomes impossible. For example: on AD I was considered a great soldier and made a lot of good waves. Soon as I got to the guard I was ostracized and told I was wrong/too RA at every point. I was turned down for a warrant flight spot because I didn't go drinking with them beforehand. After an injury at the nco academy they tried to medical me out, even after my doctor sent a letter stating full return to duty. 2 years and 2 months later after beating the PEB (yes they didn't have the courtesy of putting me through a MEB for an on duty injury) I was given a P2 profile. And at ETS I signed up again then was immediately given a counseling which stated I would not be allowed to go to wocs, ocs, or direct commission. Having resilience is great, but when collaborative opposition works against one rather than with them they end up running out of time or resources to win. I won two major cases seen as impossible and yet they still keep coming up with more nonsense. I have been kind and sincere so the lower enlisted don't understand why. So I'm going to inactive to work on my PhD, maybe med school. But my career is stalled or dead and no amount of resilience is going to change that even if I deep six the story.
