Good read. They were incredible airplanes. I participated in getting the B-29 Great Artiste representation ready for static display at the main gate when the 509 BW was at Pease AFB. Those aircraft were really put together. Static display was moved to 509th's new home at Whiteman AFB when Pease closed.
