Appendix carry always worked for me, I see there is alot of talk about Appendix carry not being safe.
But it all comes down to the individual, I even saw a SWAT officer draw from his OWB duty holster and still shot his foot. And he got a 2 week suspension without pay for it, and lived to tell the story. Lol That same office carried 100+ rounds on duty and when he was in a shoot out, he only needed to fire one round. Lol
When I fired my handgun it was not more then 2 rounds, and that's all I needed, never needed to shoot 16+ rounds except at the range.
Many officers I've seen even just carried IWB without a holster, just tucked in the pants waistline, none of them shot themselves.
So, it just depends on the individual being proficient with what they are carrying. It surprises me that many gun owners don't shoot their firearm often, and only have put 50 rounds threw their firearm. Like most have night sights, but never have shot in the dark, nor low light practice time, what's the uses having the night sights.
But, to each his own, "Be Safe out there, it's your Life, Take Care of It"

CW5 Jack Cardwell Me too, after 18 years as a LEO, it is a natural position for me.

I am considering a small firearm at the ankle carry. Good about 9 months of the year, but not so good when in the winter when shorts are worn. Actually summer is a bad time for CC due to light cloths so I might switch to what I was used to as a LEO and that is on the hip IWB!
