Biggest problem they have has been the lack of or unwillingness of each of the military branches age waivers to attend flight school

CPT(P) (Join to see) not only that, but then you have the incoming commander of AETC sparking off a firestorm by saying they are going to allow enlisted to go through initial pilot training. However, even if they successfully complete the training, they will not be allowed to fly, and they may even risk losing their guaranteed AFSC.
So, you have people willing to volunteer for the training, but then are told they are basically doing it for nothing, simply to prove the point that you don't need a 4-year degree to complete initial UPT (hell, most enlisted have a 4-year degree at this point if they are at the NCO level of their career).

It seems that both the Air Force and the Navy are training grounds for commercial air jobs. How do you keep a pilot when they can take the training and run to FedEx or UPS and make twice the money and BTW, zero deployments.

LTC (Join to see) And you are now seeing Gens & Adms blatantly telling pilots that their careers will be torpedoed if they are caught talking to airlines before their contract is up. Piss poor leadership only exacerbates the cellar-level morale.
