There is nothing in this article that suggests math reading comprehension and science will be removed from this third college entrance exam. Nonsense!
"The CLT was designed to eschew the Common Core curriculum standards and intentionally favor Aristotle, Benjamin Franklin and Jane Austen over 20th century progressive authors."
_I wasn't aware that Aristotle, Franklin and Austen were right-wing authors.
***Aristotle***
_"Democracy arises out of the notion that those who are equal in any respect are equal in all respects; because men are equally free, they claim to be absolutely equal."
_"The only stable state is the one in which all men are equal before the law."
_"Even when laws have been written down, they ought not always to remain unaltered."
*** Benjamin Franklin***
_"From a persuasion that equal liberty was originally the portion, it is still the birthright of all men."
_"Without freedom of thought there can be no such thing as wisdom; and no such thing as public liberty, without freedom of speech."
_"Ordaining of laws in favor of one part of the nation to the prejudice and oppression of another is certainly the most erroneous and mistaken policy...An equal dispensation of protection, rights, privileges, and advantages, is what every part is entitled to, and ought to enjoy."
***Jane Austen***
_"There is no charm equal to tenderness of heart."
_"It is very unfair to judge any body's conduct, without an intimate knowledge of their situation."
_"If adventures will not befall a young lady in her own village, she must seek them abroad."
LTC Eugene Chu Do those thought expressed above smack of right-wing and contrary to progressive thought? Feel free to counter with something right-wing and contrary to progressive thought that they have expressed.
_The Catholic Church (I'm not a Catholic) and Christian faith were important influences in western civilization. To deny so is unabashed revisionism and an outright lie, worthy of Marxist-Leninists and Fascists.

I certainly must agree with you about Jane Austen, Maj John Bell. I've read much of her work and I personally believe she left politics out of her writing not so much as to avoid controversy, but because politics (and war, etc.) simply wasn't germane to her stories. Just my opinion, of course. In fact, her work is notable for making little or no mention of the significant world events that were ongoing during her lifetime.
This current Florida testing initiative is nothing new. I grew up in FL and graduated from high school in Jacksonville in 1967. We were required to take the Florida placement test (I don't remember its official name). It was administered by the State of Florida and was not "optional" as were the SAT and ACT tests. Attainment of a certain score essentially guaranteed admission to any Florida public institution of higher learning.
It's been a long time, but that's the way I remember it.
