I wish the AF would allow us to expand what our PAs can do- we just added our first NP and curious to see what they can do as well. Long process- any internal med docs looking for a part time gig- I can use you. Thanks for the share Kim Bolen RN CCM ACM

Good news, I believe PAs and NPs can help make our health care system a lot most cost effective.

Kim Bolen RN CCM ACM this is great news! I have received care from many wonderful ARNPs and PAs. They were compassionate and knowledgeable. They made sure they looked at the whole picture/whole patient unlike a moonlighting physician I saw this weekend. I was in considerable pain. I am allergic to narcotics and can't take NSAIDS because of kidney failure caused by chemo. My vitals were within "normal parameters" and looked good on paper but in context, there was a jump of about 50% in bp. When I explained what was going on (because I feel it is necessary to partner with caregivers to achieve the best possible outcome and teach where I can) he asked "How would I know that?" I told him if he were to review my records, the spike would be obvious. We need caregivers who can critically think. In my opinion, NPsand PAs fill this need with a few exceptions.
