All it takes is a second to panic. Then you've lost everything. I mean he would have ended up with a ticket.. Maybe gotten a slap on the hand by the command. Not really that big a deal. Not enough for his life anyway.

Capt Tom Brown - Sir, I'd love the opportunity to change your mind..I may not, but perhaps I will........I have a perspective and depth of experience as well as the training to show you why your perception may not be reality.

Capt Tom Brown, I had to park my bike because I couldn't control the speed; I was hooked on the adrenaline rush I got from the bike.

I am thankful that none of the three individuals in the minivan suffered serious injuries after Pfc. Stacy Jordan Hardy hit them at speeds up to 100 MPH SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL.
I am also glad no policemen were injured or innocent bystanders by this foolish soldier.
It may sound callous; but, I feel no sympathy for Stacy Jordan Hardy
This incident reminds me of decades ago when a German motorcycle gang member smashed into the back of what was once the M-113 I used as a platoon leader. He was playing chicken with M-113 APCs, M-60 tanks, and M-88s on the autobahn and he died instantly as he hit the ramp of the M-113. He hit so hard it dented the ramp of the M-113 with his helmet which contained the mush of his head.

The only thing I'm saddened for as hardhearted as it may sound is the three individuals in the minivan

That young privet made a decision and he endangered other people's lives from the police to the local populace, he was a criminal. Only he knows why he chose to act criminally and endanger others lives needlessly for what would've amounted to a slap on the wrist in the scheme of life.

While it need not be have a death sentence imposed, he has nobody to blame but himself.
I'm sad for those left in his wake, but I find it difficult to find sadness for him personally
