I feel if it's excess housing due to the military downsizing, it should be made available to homeless vets and vets who can't afford housing for their families. Take care of our own, because nobody else is.

SGM Douglas Vidakovich I knew it had been privatized, I did not know it wasn't built with government funds. Thank you for that bit of information.

SGM Douglas Vidakovich - I agree, ouch, it does cover it fairly well. I am glad I'm not dealing with it.

IT IS A TERRIBLE IDEA! It's a security and safety nightmare for the base police and the civilian authorities. Who's in charge? who will respond? What actions are appropriate? Base housing is For MILITARY personnel and their families; also, civilian contractors directly affiliated with the military. Talk about opening up your infiltration issues for the base security forces...jeez!

Homeless vets are NOT a security concern. Most are loyal Americans veteran down on their luck. They may even be able to fill in some needed jobs on base.

Honestly, I don't think it's a god idea either. With the country in an uproar and going after in anything in a uniform, it's asking for trouble. Out of all the military bases in this country, one would think Fort Hood would be the last one that would allow this to happen. I realize it was Soldiers who did those shootings, but reality is they happened.

SSG Jacey R. as much as I would love to have faith in our country that we could make it work its hard. I been in this uniform for over 10 years, and in all honesty, I am ready to lay it down on my next ETS. There is a war coming to this country, the wolves among the sheep. The sheep will turn to the wolves when it happens, not if, when. War may have done it to me, but its hard to trust anyone anymore. What people don't realize is taking life is the easy part, living your own life after is the hard part.

SFC(P) (Join to see) - I know that's right, your life or bubby's life is in danger you react, afterwards when for years it runs through your head.
