Makes me wonder sometimes if people in the Pentagon get major kickbacks with all the uniform changes that go on. If your in 25 years right now, how much have you had to spend to keep up with all the changes?

MAJ (Join to see) - I wore old green fatigues in my AD days in the 70's, and we had our khakis and dress greens. When I served in the NG, they gave us BDU's. Since then its spun my head. When my son went to Sill in 2009, I don't remember what they gave him but it seems they changed the pattern multiple times since then. The basic stuff you wear has to be replaced anyway, but man the dress uniform changes blow my mind. I know he ended up with dress blues and a Stetson for his unit.

Honestly, the expenditure on uniforms is not good and a reflection on the graft and corruption that happens in the procurement process. My son has been issued armor plates and will not (likely) ever see combat so you have to ask yourself "what the hell is going on".

My wife and I graduated Basic in 1991. He: 2019.

My ruck: A single one. (1991)
His ruck: Three of them and they were all heavy as F. Who is getting rich off of this bloat?

Issuing every Soldier armor plating is insane. His REMF job is the least likely to get him into agrey fields of fire as any desk jockey. What the hell is going on?

The endless change in uniforms and the leadership endorsement in these changes is deeply disappointing and enriches corporations. It's time for this to STOP.

SSG Michael Davis - And then often, the ones who need the plates don't have them.

SPC Steven Depuy - Exactly my point. They could be issued from Central Supply on an on demand / on need basis but that's not what we are doing at the moment. I am all for protecting the Soldier but as a taxpayer some logic needs to be engaged.

I enlisted in 1985 when we had the old greens adopted in the early 70s. They changed those twice before we went to the ASU. This will be the 5th dress uniform I'll have to buy...

Not complaining, really. I think this uniform will look great when I cruise in parades in an old Jeep after I retire...

Yeah, it looks a lot like the one my dad had from WW2. Pretty sharp really

I'm happy with the new design to be perfectly honest, but the change after change after change that generates $$$ for other people gets tiresome.

I love the look. I wish this was the uniform we had when I was in (91-97). Sometimes things don't need to change, but the $$$ and influence gets a vote, unfortunately.
