Thanks to Joe Stalin half *ARE* ethnically Great Russians.
Back during the ‘20’s & ‘30’s Uncle Joe nationalized farms throughout Georgia, Ukraine, Byelorussia, & the Baltic states; carted the former owners off to Siberia; and replaced them with Russians.
That’s one reason Putin is able to annex those territories... the inhabitants see themselves as Russians.
Kinda like the Southwestern US & the ‘reconquista’ movement.
