“Fragging” during the Vietnam War

I was in Vietnam on three separate tours, I heard rumors but never any facts about American Units. In my unit there were assignments that almost guaranteed you would not be seen again. I did see one GI shoot and kill another over a Bar Girl at the Sherwood Forest. Both were within a week of DEROS.

Rumors but never heard any verified

Only one incident I was ever aware of—an unhappy Sgt shot a Major in our Battalion. Didn’t kill him, fortunately. I was involved in the trial, and about all I recall for sure is something the Major said that struck me as quite humorous. Paraphrasing, he said “I saw him walking down the path towards me, and when he raised his rifle and pointed it at me, I knew something wasn’t right.” No kidding. Really?
