In 1858, a force of 2,500 French foreign legionnaires and 500 Spanish troops began their conquest of Indochina by occupying Tourane and using it as a base for future operations. This was to be the invasion of Indochina and it would find its path in doing so to be a very difficult one.

The French fought the RVNs for over 100 yrs before the French finally lost. It only took 10 yrs to defeat US. Maybe people should just leave the RVNs alone.

Although we left the south Viet Nam government in a lurch in 1975 we never were defeated on the battlefield we just lost the political will to win
