They are still dealing with that mess. I am afraid we will one day have such an accident due to the locations of some of our reactors and geological fault lines.

SSG Samuel Kermon
Very true. Wasn't there a report a few years ago that showed the line of reactors in California and what could happen in the event of a major earthquake?

SSG Samuel Kermon - I believe so. There is a nuclear plant in Ohio on or near a fault line.

Thank you my friend Lt Col Charlie Brown for posting the history.com post for March 11 [which I also received] focused on the March 11, 2011, the largest earthquake ever recorded in Japan causes massive devastation, and the ensuing tsunami decimates the Tōhoku region of northeastern Honshu."
Thankfully Nuclear energy is the safest type of energy and most efficient by far - plus least greenhouse gasses emitted :-)

Remember watching the wave roll in. Remember the fear caused by the disaster at the plant. For those who say there was no need to evacuate I think they were just not thinking. Japan took at the situation and did the prudent thing, evacuate the area in an excess of caution. Beats what might have happened.
