Sadly stemming the flow of refugees and immigration is one thing that can be done- but then the deserving are left out. Is public safety worth being considered isolationist in some way?

Empires have always used the term internal or national security as a means so subvert laws and consolidate power like the Roman Empire coming to power not long after the invasion of Hannibal and the Nazi Party after World War 1 always used security as a means to assert total control.
