Join us Oct. 1 at Maumee Bay State Park in Oregon for G.I. Go, a free program focuses on creating a network of service members, both past and present, which emphasizes community, physical well-being and education on opportunities and benefits available to these groups.
Representatives from Ohio Means Jobs, the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Parks and Watercraft, Ohio State Highway Patrol, Ohio Department of Transportation and the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction will be in attendance.
Explore and revitalize one of Ohio’s 74 state parks with a service project, connect with state resources and have fun with the family doing featured programs including archery, fishing and field-dressing.

This sounds like a tremendously worthwhile project which will benefit and honor veterans and their families while at the same time providing a public service project for vets to participate in. As a former state employee,(TX) I can vouch for the amount of effort, work, and coordination by many people, including 1st Lt (Join to see) down in Columbus, from several state agencies to put this program together. Success in large part depends on spreading the word to as many people as possible so all can avail themselves of the opportunity. Maumee is a beautiful city to visit while there. While we won't be able to make the trip from Austin, we wish the best to all involved in the project for a great success.
